Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

If Independence was feeling good fresh off their 52-24 takedown of Summit last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Independence Eagles had to suffer through a 76-43 loss at the hands of the Brentwood Bruins. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Bruins are ranked 24th).

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Brentwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Coming up, Independence will welcome Page at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Page is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.9 points per game this season. As for Brentwood, they will venture away from home to face off against Nolensville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Nolensville has won three straight at home, while Brentwood won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
