Soccer Game Preview: Dan River vs. Appomattox County

Dan River hasn't had much luck against Appomattox County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Dan River's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Dan River is looking to tack another W on to their season record, something they couldn't quite do against Altavista on Wednesday. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Appomattox County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 5-1 to Chatham. Appomattox County fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against Chatham since on Wednesday.

Appomattox County's goal came courtesy of Payton Melvin, who's now up to four this season.

Dan River's draw gives them a new season record of 1-4-1. As for Appomattox County, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-4-1.

Dan River might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Appomattox County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
