Preview: Chaminade Flyers vs. St. John the Baptist Cougars
Chaminade is 10-0 against St. John the Baptist since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chaminade Flyers will head out on the road to square off against the St. John the Baptist Cougars at 7:30 p.m.
Chaminade pushed their score all the way to 88 on January 7th, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to St. Raymond Boys 93-88. While losing is never fun, Chaminade can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while St. Raymond Boys is ranked second).
Even though St. John the Baptist has not done well against St. Anthony's recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. St. John the Baptist walked away with a 49-38 win over St. Anthony's.
This is the second loss in a row for Chaminade and nudges their season record down to 4-4. As for St. John the Baptist, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Chaminade beat St. John the Baptist 73-64 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Will Chaminade repeat their success, or does St. John the Baptist have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
