Baseball Recap: Michigan Lutheran Seminary Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Michigan Lutheran Seminary ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the Valley Lutheran Chargers 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Chargers back in April, they had to take a 5-4 loss.

Will Salgat was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Lewis, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Michigan Lutheran Seminary and bumps their season record up to 6-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Valley Lutheran, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-4 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Michigan Lutheran Seminary will venture away from home to face off against St. Charles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Valley Lutheran, they will challenge Laker at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
