Football Game Preview: Creston Panthers vs. Perry Bluejays

The Creston Panthers will head out to challenge the Perry Bluejays at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Creston has given up an average of 42 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Creston took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 42-35 victory over Greene County. The Panthers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Perry was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against Carroll, falling 63-7. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Tigers are ranked 59th).

Creston will have to contain Phillip Gray as he made an impact in Perry's last game. He rushed for 91 yards and one touchdown. Gray really tore up the turf during one magnificent 91-yard run.

Creston's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Creston against Perry when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-13 victory. In that contest, the Panthers amassed a halftime lead of 44-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
