Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Falfurrias' 12th in Last 14 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Falfurrias walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Rio Hondo Bobcats with a sharp 15-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Fightin' Jerseys, who have now won 14 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Derek Chavera was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andre Cisneros, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was RJ Ozuna, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Falfurrias always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Hondo only posted an OBP of .100.

Falfurrias has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Rio Hondo, their loss dropped their record down to 16-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Falfurrias beat the Bobcats by a score of 10-0 on Saturday.
