Football Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Skates Past Carolina Academy with Ease

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Thomas Heyward Academy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Carolina Academy Bobcats 47-20. Considering the Rebels have won three matchups by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Tony O'Banner had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 237 yards and three scores while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September. Thomas Heyward Academy also got help from Tyler Hymon, who showed off his sure hands for 89 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Thomas Heyward Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 404 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 264 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

Thomas Heyward Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Carolina Academy, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Looking ahead, Thomas Heyward Academy will take on Williamsburg Academy on Friday. The Stallions' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Rebels' offense will have their work cut out for them. Carolina Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
