Basketball Preview: Southwood Knights vs. Maconaquah Braves
The Southwood Knights will head out to challenge the Maconaquah Braves at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, Southwood ended up a good deal behind Whitko and lost 52-33. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Wildcats are ranked 59th).
Despite the defeat, Southwood had strong showings from Adi Deaton, who posted seven points and five rebounds, and Ella Chambers, who had no points.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah strolled past Mississinewa with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 54-37. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Braves.
Maconaquah's win came from a few key players Southwood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ireland Kile, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 22 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Betzner, who earned 15 points.
