Basketball Recap: The Carmel School's Run of Eight Straight Wins Now Over

The Carmel School and Brunswick Academy squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but The Carmel School had to settle for second. They took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brunswick Academy Vikings. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

When it comes to explaining why The Carmel School lost, don't look at Kedelin Santos. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 25 points and nine rebounds. Santos' big performance that morning made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of April Twum-Barimah, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, The Carmel School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

The Carmel School's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Brunswick Academy, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.
