Baseball Recap: Paul Laurence Dunbar Takes a Loss

Paul Laurence Dunbar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mercer County Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-11 back in March.

Teppei Nagano made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Steven Estepp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

Paul Laurence Dunbar's record is now 8-23. As for Mercer County, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paul Laurence Dunbar will welcome Boyd County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mercer County, they will be playing at home against Western Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
