Softball Recap: Dallas Christian Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Dallas Christian won the last time they faced Lake Country Christian and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Dallas Christian Chargers' way against the Lake Country Christian Eagles as the Dallas Christian Chargers made off with a 14-1 win. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Chloe Rodriguez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

In other batting news, Zailey Freeman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Briar Boothe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dallas Christian lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Dallas Christian pushed their record up to 4-1-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.13 hits in those games compared to only 4.33 in the others. As for Lake Country Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dallas Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sanger at 5:30 p.m. on March 17th. As for Lake Country Christian, they are taking a road trip to challenge Trinity Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Country Christian has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
