Basketball Recap: Mt. Carmel Golden Aces vs. Casey-Westfield Warriors
Mt. Carmel lost against Casey-Westfield back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mt. Carmel Golden Aces fell to the Casey-Westfield Warriors 41-37. While losing is never fun, the Golden Aces can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 550th, while the Warriors are ranked 188th).
Casey-Westfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nolan Clement, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Those 13 points gave Clement a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hayden Parcel, who posted 14 points and six boards.
Mt. Carmel has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Casey-Westfield, their record now sits at 16-6.
Mt. Carmel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-25 loss against Marion on the 8th.
