Baseball Recap: Thunderbird Comes Up Short

After flying high against Moon Valley last Thursday, Thunderbird came back down to earth. Thunderbird fell just short of the Marcos de Niza Padres by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Padres apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

John Paul (JP) Stewart made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since March 6th. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Gulinson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Thunderbird's record is now 9-7. As for Marcos de Niza, their record now sits at 6-8.

Looking ahead, Thunderbird will square off against Goldwater at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Goldwater has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Thunderbird will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marcos de Niza, they will take on Mesquite at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Marcos de Niza's pitchers better be ready for this one: Mesquite has averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season.
