Basketball Recap: Holton-Arms Comes Up Short

Holton-Arms lost against Episcopal back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Holton-Arms were beaten by the Episcopal Maroon 51-20. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Holton-Arms came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 18th in Maryland, while Episcopal is ranked 127th in Virginia).

Princess Akojenu was her usual excellent self, going 10 of 16 on her way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals for Episcopal. The contest was Akojenu's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Coever Dixon was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 12 points.

Holton-Arms' loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Episcopal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Flint Hill the next time they take the court. Episcopal will host Flint Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Holton-Arms will host them at 5:45 p.m. on January 28th.
