Softball Recap: Heidelberg Comes Up Short

Heidelberg extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-9. They came up short against the Clarkdale Bulldogs, falling 20-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Oilers of the 18-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

As for Clarkdale, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10. Considering they have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Clarkdale's part, the team relied heavily on Rivers Jay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave Jay a new career-high. Allie Wilkerson also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clarkdale beat Heidelberg by a score of 20-0 later that day.
