Recap: Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves vs. Corning Cardinals
It was a good run, but the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Corning. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Western Sierra Collegiate Academy has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Western Sierra Collegiate Academy still got an impressive performance from Max Frantti , who scored 15 points. The contest was Frantti 's fifth in a row with at least ten points. John Harb was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Roman Bennett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Corning, scoring 17 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaidan Raker, who scored eight points.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Corning, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Western Sierra Collegiate Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Williams on December 15th. Williams will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1252nd, while Western Sierra Collegiate Academy is ranked 160th). As for Corning, they will head out on the road to face off against Colusa at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Colusa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
