Soccer Recap: Marple Newtown Takes a Loss

If Marple Newtown was riding high fresh off their 6-0 takedown of Penn Wood on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fightin' Tigers fell just short of the East Vikings by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Marple Newtown couldn't quite close it out.

Their goal came courtesy of Benk Gahler, who's now up to five this season.

Marple Newtown's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for East, their win bumped their record up to 2-0-1.

Marple Newtown and East will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Fightin' Tigers will face off against rival Lower Merion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, East is set to take on their familiar foe Henderson at 7:00 p.m. on September 4.
