Baseball Game Preview: Great Valley Patriots vs. Oxford Hornets

The Great Valley Patriots are taking a road trip to challenge the Oxford Hornets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Great Valley has five straight wins, Oxford has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Great Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bayard Rustin, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Patriots blew past the Golden Knights 15-5 on Tuesday. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Oxford came up short against Downingtown East on Friday and fell 6-1.

Great Valley pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Oxford, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Great Valley couldn't quite get it done against Oxford in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Patriots avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
