Soccer Game Preview: South Johnston vs. West Johnston

South Johnston hasn't had much luck against West Johnston recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. South Johnston will venture away from home to square off against West Johnston at 6:30 p.m. South Johnston has given up an average of 5.1 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

South Johnston fell victim to Hunt and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 10-0. While losing is never fun, South Johnston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 400th, while Hunt are ranked 93rd).

Meanwhile, West Johnston fought the good fight in their overtime match against C.B. Aycock last Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Falcons by a score of 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

West Johnston hit C.B. Aycock with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from JORDAN BASS, NATALYA RAMOS, BROOKE BAIS, and JENNA UNDERWOOD.

West Johnston moved to 4-5-1 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for South Johnston, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

South Johnston suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to West Johnston in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can South Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
