Baseball Recap: Skaneateles Takes a Loss

After flying high against Palmyra-Macedon on Saturday, Skaneateles came back down to earth. The Lakers fell just short of the Cortland Tigers by a score of 7-6 on Tuesday. The Lakers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

William Carroll made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hugh Carroll, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Skaneateles now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Cortland, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Skaneateles will welcome Jordan-Elbridge at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Lakers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cortland, they will head out to face off against Bishop Ludden at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Gaelic Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
