Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers vs. Elkins Tigers
The Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneers waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 58-39 victory over Elkins. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for Buckhannon-Upshur this season.
Buckhannon-Upshur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jerin Westfall led the charge by scoring 12 points along with two steals. Ian Strader was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Buckhannon-Upshur is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Elkins, they dropped their record down to 4-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Buckhannon-Upshur will take on Woodrow Wilson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Buckhannon-Upshur has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Elkins, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against University at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Elkins is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in West Virginia (they are ranked 61st, while University is ranked 231st).
