Basketball Game Preview: Rabun County Wildcats vs. Elbert County Blue Devils

Rabun County is 9-1 against Elbert County since February of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Rabun County Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Elbert County Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Rabun County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 contests -- so hopefully Elbert County likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Rabun County humbled Oglethorpe County with a 66-26 victory. With the Wildcats ahead 43-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Rabun County can attribute much of their success to Hayes Free, who went 9 of 13 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals, and Huey Blalock, who went 7 for 11 en route to 19 points and eight assists. That's the most steals Free has posted since back in November of 2024. Michael Bone was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Elbert County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Warren County on the road by a 77-62 margin.

Rabun County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points per game. As for Elbert County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Everything came up roses for Rabun County against Elbert County in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 96-61 victory. In that contest, Rabun County amassed a halftime lead of 53-26, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Tuesday.
