Two dominant backs in Cash Byington and Mason Pisarski are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Sonora Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bradshaw Christian Pride at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sonora comes in on 18 and Bradshaw Christian on three.
Sonora is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-7 victory over Wheatland. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by 26 points or more this season.
Sonora had a senior duo take command as Eli Ingalls threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only seven passes and Steven Morfoot picked up 130 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Morfoot's longest reception was for an incredible 84 yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sonora proved: they limited Wheatland to a paltry 2.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Lemar Vaughn for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sonora didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.4.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Sonora, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Byington, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Bradshaw Christian's game on Friday was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Woodland Christian with a 36-30 win. Bradshaw Christian's victory was all the more impressive since the Cardinals were averaging only 12.27 points allowed on the season.
Sonora better keep an eye on Devin Hatcher. He was instrumental in Bradshaw Christian's win, rushing for 137 yards and two scores. With that strong performance, Hatcher is now averaging an impressive 101.8 rushing yards per game.
Sonora's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Bradshaw Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Sonora came out on top in a nail-biter against Bradshaw Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, sneaking past 23-20. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Pride have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
