Baseball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Mt. Carmel Golden Aces

The Newton Eagles will face off against the Mt. Carmel Golden Aces at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Newton hadn't beaten Dieterich on the road since April 11, 2017 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Eagles came out on top against the Movin Maroons by a score of 8-4.

Quincy Fulton was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 13 runs the game before, Mt. Carmel was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They lost 11-1 to North Clay/Clay City. The contest marked the Golden Aces' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Santiago Guanipa made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Newton pushed their record up to 8-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
