Football Recap: Del Sol Comes Up Short

Del Sol scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They had to suffer through a 62-33 loss at the hands of the Carpinteria Warriors. The Jaguars were down 48-27 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Carpinteria's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Jaimes, who picked up 163 receiving yards and three scores, and also rushed for 79 yards on only nine carries. Jaimes' longest reception was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total. Drew Filippini was another key back, gaining 124 total yards and five touchdowns.

Del Sol's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Carpinteria, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Del Sol will take on rival Santa Clara at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carpinteria is set to challenge their familiar foe Nordhoff at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 950 yards in their previous games.
