The Timpanogos Timberwolves will face off against the Desert Hills Thunder at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Timpanogos is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Timpanogos heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Tuesday. They fell just short of Crimson Cliffs by a score of 7-5. The Timberwolves haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Tyten Day put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Day was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Collin Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Desert Hills faced Park City in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Thunder were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Miners. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Desert Hills also got a great performance from Andrew Wiley as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Wiley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stoakli Tate, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Briggs Fillmore, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Desert Hills' record now sits at 24-5. As for Timpanogos, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Timpanogos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Desert Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
