Baseball Recap: Winamac Warriors vs. Carroll Cougars        
        
		
            
 Winamac had to start their season on the road  on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They suffered a  tough 10-3 defeat at the hands of the Carroll Cougars. Winamac has not had much luck with Carroll recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
 Winamac saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Max Gearhart, who  went 1-for-2 with a  stolen base and  an  RBI.
 On Carroll's side,  Trent Metzger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  struck out seven batters over  four innings while giving up just one earned run off   four  hits (and only one walk). Metzger was also stellar in the batter's box,  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances with two  stolen bases, a  triple,  and a  run.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Xavier Williams, who  scored two  runs and  stole three bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Owen Zinn, who  scored a  run and  stole three bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Winamac will head out on the road to  face off against  Rensselaer Central at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. Winamac is facing Rensselaer Central at the right time seeing as Rensselaer Central is stuck on  a  seven-game losing streak. As for Carroll, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Maconaquah at 5:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
