Softball Game Preview: Milton-Union Bulldogs vs. Tri-Village Patriots

Milton-Union is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Tri-Village is on an 18-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will welcome the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Milton-Union's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Lehman Catholic as they made off with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won ten contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Tri-Village hadn't done well against Miami East recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Patriots came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 6-2.

Elizabeth Poling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hailey Burk, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Caley McCarroll, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Tri-Village lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.

Milton-Union has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Tri-Village, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
