Volleyball Recap: Pathway Christian Comes Up Short

After flying high against Faith Christian last Thursday, Pathway Christian came back down to earth. The Panthers fell 3-1 to the Morning Star Academy Mustangs on Tuesday. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Mustangs when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Morning Star Academy scored at least 17 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-17.

Stella Gehman paced Pathway Christian's offense, picking up nine kills. Gehman got some help from Leah Schrock and her 20 assists. Ashlynn Gingerich controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Morgan Tipsword was the offensive standout of the match as she had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave her a new career-high.

Pathway Christian's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Morning Star Academy, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Looking ahead, Pathway Christian will be playing at home against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morning Star Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against East Moline Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
