Basketball Recap: Morgan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Zoe Rockenfield and Makayla Williams

Morgan lost against Syracuse back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Trojans fell 55-47 to the Titans. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly eight points.

Morgan's loss came despite strong showings from Makayla Williams and Zoe Rockenfield. Williams went 12-for-18 to rack up 28 points in addition to seven boards and five steals, while Rockenfield posted 19 points and six assists. That was a full 59.6% of the Trojans' points, marking the fourth time in a row Williams has scored more than a third of the team's points.

Maylee Anderson had a dynamite game For Syracuse., dropping a double-double with 25 points and ten rebounds. What's more, Anderson racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Rachel McBride was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Morgan is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for Syracuse, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Morgan will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Roy at 7:00 p.m. As for Syracuse, they will head out on the road to square off against Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
