Winnebago triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Tressa BigBear

Recap: Winnebago Indians vs. Homer Knights

The Winnebago Indians took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They walked away with a 53-45 victory over Homer. For Winnebago, this counts as revenge for the 70-57 loss Homer walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Winnebago can attribute much of their success to Tressa BigBear, who scored 16 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 steals. Charlize Frenchman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 4 steals.

Homer's loss came despite strong showings from Tori Walker and Joceyn Hightree. Walker scored 9 points along with 5 steals, while Hightree scored 4 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Overgaard, who scored 3 points along with 8 rebounds.

Winnebago's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Winnebago won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Walthill at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. As for Homer, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Lyons-Decatur Northeast at 2:15 p.m. Hopefully Lyons-Decatur Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Thursday.
