Basketball Game Preview: Pieper Warriors vs. Wagner Thunderbirds

Pieper is 0-5 against Wagner since January of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pieper Warriors will head out to face off against the Wagner Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, Pieper ended up a good deal behind New Braunfels and lost 65-48.

Meanwhile, Wagner entered their tilt with Boerne on Friday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They took their match with ease, bagging an 82-45 win over the Greyhounds. Given the Thunderbirds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Greyhounds are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wagner pushed their record up to 26-7 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.4 points over those games. As for Pieper, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-12.

Pieper came up short against Wagner in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-44. Can Pieper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
