Softball Recap: Marksville Tigers vs. Caldwell Parish Spartans
Marksville took a seven-run defeat the last time they faced off against Caldwell Parish, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Marksville Tigers had just enough and edged out the Caldwell Parish Spartans 5-4 on Tuesday. While the Tigers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Katie Lachney made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Kristen Lachney was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. Madison Lachney was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Marksville's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Caldwell Parish, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marksville will face off against Vidalia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
