Menlo-Atherton has gone 7-1 against San Mateo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The two teams will compete for holiday cheer at 3:00 p.m.

Menlo-Atherton easily dispatched King's Academy last Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Menlo-Atherton fell just short of Menlo School by a score of 67-65 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but San Mateo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 51-47 win over Milpitas. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bearcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Trojans are ranked 121st).

San Mateo's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Menlo-Atherton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Everything came up roses for Menlo-Atherton against San Mateo in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 58-25 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Menlo-Atherton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
