Game recap: St. Anthony High School Football Team tops Polytechnic

PASADENA, Calif. - St. Anthony (Long Beach, Calif.) put up six points in the fourth quarter in Saturday's game to seal their 31-7 victory over Polytechnic (Pasadena, Calif.).

After taking the lead on a field goal by Edwin Vasquez in the second quarter, the Saints were up 10-7 at the half.

St. Anthony expanded its lead to 18 points entering the fourth quarter. SA scored three times in the third, including once on a safety.

The result came as a big surprise as the Panthers came in ranked No. 556 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for California, while the Long Beach school was ranked No. 623.

Polytechnic's lone touchdown came on an 85-yard run in the first quarter.



Coming into the game the Saints had allowed 26.7 points per game this year.

The win brought St. Anthony's winning streak to three games.

Polytechnic (8-2) faces off against Brentwood School in a non-conference game its next time out. The Eagles go into the week with a record of 3-5.
