South Elgin had won four straight at home, but on Friday they bumped up to 6-2 to make it five. They breezed past the Elgin Maroons to the tune of 64-21. The Storm's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

As for Elgin, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-3. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 321st, while South Elgin is ranked 109th).

Despite the loss, Elgin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Lamarin Powell picked up 85 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Powell's longest reception was for an incredible 85 yards. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jamiere Moore, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
