Soccer Recap: Picayune Comes Up Short

If Picayune was riding high fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Terry last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Picayune Maroon Tide came up short against the West Jones Mustangs on Thursday, falling 8-1. The Maroon Tide have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Picayune's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 4-6. As for West Jones, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-5.

Picayune will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Jones at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. After both having extra time off, West Jones and Petal will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
