Softball Recap: Lompoc Comes Up Short

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Lompoc's offense. They fell just short of the St. Joseph Knights by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that the Braves let down their fans at home.

Alex Brooks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Lompoc saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rianna Stouppe, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Stouppe has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Lompoc's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for St. Joseph, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Lompoc and St. Joseph should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Braves (ranked 115th) will meet Mission College Prep (ranked 304th) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, St. Joseph will take on Arroyo Grande at 4:30 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (38 vs. 397).
