Baseball Game Preview: Mansfield Lions vs. Fordland Eagles

The Mansfield Lions will head out on the road to challenge the Fordland Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Mansfield blew Houston out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Houston got their revenge. The Lions fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-5.

Meanwhile, Fordland entered their tilt with Galena on Monday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Bears.

Fordland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Mansfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.

Mansfield couldn't quite get it done against Fordland in their previous matchup last Tuesday as they fell 9-5. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
