Baseball Recap: Morgan Township Takes a Loss

If Morgan Township was feeling good fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Tri-Township on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cherokees took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheeler Bearcats on Thursday.

Carter Thibodeau was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Morgan Township saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jett Gheaja, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Clint Lemmons, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Morgan Township's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13-1. As for Wheeler, their record is now 8-11.

Looking ahead, Morgan Township will venture away from home to square off against Westville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cherokees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Blackhawks have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Wheeler, they will be playing at home against Munster at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
