Recap: McDowell Titans vs. Enka Jets
The McDowell Titans can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-40 victory over Enka at home. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Enka is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
McDowell had a senior duo take command as David Olivo scored 22 points and Eli Elliott scored 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Olivo has scored all season.
Enka lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaiah Phillips, who scored seven points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Trantham, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Enka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for McDowell and bumps their season record up to 12-2. As for Enka, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McDowell will take on Asheville at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Asheville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Enka, they will head out on the road to square off against North Buncombe at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Trent Clark and Sam Waddell.
