Baseball Recap: Marshall Takes a Loss

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-3 to the Summit Christian Academy Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Owls of the 14-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Marshall saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brock Marshall, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Creighton Byrd also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Summit Christian Academy, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 14-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will welcome Kirksville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will challenge Van Horn at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
