Baseball Game Preview: Hammond Central Wolves vs. Hammond Morton Governors

The Hammond Central Wolves will square off against the Hammond Morton Governors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Hammond Central couldn't beat Hammond Academy of Science & Tech on Saturday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Wolves came up short against the Hawks, falling 13-5.

Hammond Central saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dashaun Turner, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. D'Angelo Pina also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Hammond Morton suffered their closest defeat since April 16th on Monday. They fell just short of Merrillville by a score of 7-5.

Marcellous McQuay made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Hammond Morton's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-3 (and 1-13 when he doesn't).

Hammond Central's loss dropped their record down to 9-18-1. As for Hammond Morton, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-16.

Hammond Central couldn't quite get it done against Hammond Morton in their previous matchup on Wednesday as they fell 12-7. Can the Wolves avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
