Basketball Recap: Spotsylvania Takes a Loss

Spotsylvania played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 52-16 defeat at the hands of the Chancellor Chargers. The contest marked the Knights' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Leading Chancellor to victory were Natalie Lanning and Lydia Brockelbank. Lanning went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists, while Brockelbank went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Lanning has been hot, having also posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Amna Abed was another key player, putting up four points and ten boards.

Spotsylvania's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Chancellor, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-3.

Spotsylvania has already played their next match (against Culpeper County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Chancellor will face off against Eastern View at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Chancellor is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
