Basketball Game Preview: Prosper Prep . vs. Pleasant Grove Hawks

The Prosper Prep . and the Pleasant Grove Hawks will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Prosper Prep sitting on eight straight victories and Pleasant Grove on five.

Prosper Prep saw some tournament action on Monday. They came out on top against Queen City by a score of 61-50. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the .'s considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 418th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1343rd).

Prosper Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was John Gilbert, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten assists. Gilbert's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Sanders, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Prosper Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Pleasant Grove won against Spring Hill two weeks ago with 69 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Hawks pulled ahead with a 69-68 photo finish over Liberty-Eylau.

Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Prosper Prep, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
