Volleyball Recap: Waynesville Takes a Loss

Waynesville lost against Eaton back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Spartans lost 3-0 to the Eagles. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Waynesville was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Eaton's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-17, 25-19.

Cali Layne paced Waynesville's offense, picking up ten kills. Layne got some help from Katilyn Hanshaw and her 23 assists. Abby Buck controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Eaton was led to victory by Maddyn Davis and Kenzie Wilson. Davis had seven digs and three aces, while Wilson had 31 assists and five digs. Wilson has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more assists the last 30 times she's played.

Waynesville's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Eaton, they moved to 2-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Waynesville will square off against rival Oakwood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Eaton is set to face off against their familiar foe Carlisle at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
