North Jersey - Meadowlands recap Sept. 26, 2012

Palisades Park/Leonia's Taj Huggins rumbled for the longest rushing play in North Jersey - Meadowlands this season in his game against Weehawken last week. Huggins' team topped the Indians as he sprinted for 65 yards on the play and finished with 89 in all.

Hasbrouck Heights was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in the league. The Aviators beat North Arlington 40-6 earlier in the week.

The Vikings' dynamic duo of Angelo Nocciolo and Mike Brazzel proved tough for Hasbrouck Heights to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Nocciolo threw for 182 yards and one touchdown and Brazzel had 86 yards receiving. Andrew Paparelli helped North Arlington's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 79 yards.

Charles Simons was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 120 yards as Palisades Park/Leonia fell to the Aviators.

The Vikings' Nocciolo and Brazzel have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading North Jersey - Meadowlands in both passing and receiving yards. Nocciolo has thrown for 634 yards this season, while Brazzel, a 5-foot-7 receiver, has eight catches for 224 yards. Anthony Seidel from Hasbrouck Heights leads the league in rushing with 288 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when North Arlington takes on Waldwick/Midland Park. The Vikings' offense has scored 72 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Warriors have allowed only 88 on the year.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Saddle Brook takes on the Tigers. The Falcons are currently in first, while Palisades Park/Leonia is in third.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Saddle Brook takes on the Tigers. The Falcons have allowed 21 points this season, while Palisades Park/Leonia has given up 51.

North Arlington moved up to 292 from 320 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 40-6 win over the Vikings helped the Vikings improve their standing.
