Softball Recap: Upper Dauphin Area's Loss Ends Seven-Game Winning Streak at Home

Upper Dauphin Area dropped their record down to 9-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They came up short against the Susquenita Blackhawks, falling 10-2. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Trojans couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Susquenita, the win keeps they at an undefeated 19-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 13.6 runs this season.

For Susquenita's part, Ayahna Fleisher made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Fleisher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lena Beckenbaugh, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Tierney Stuempfle, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Susquenita will take on Newport at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Upper Dauphin Area will be paying especially close attention to the Blackhawks' game: after the Blackhawks face off against the Buffaloes, they'll take on Upper Dauphin Area again at 4:30 p.m. on the 30th.
