Football Recap: Burney Turns Things Around After Road Loss + How To Watch

There's no place like home for Burney, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 34-20 victory over the Plumas Charter Warriors on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.

It was another big night for Liam Von Schalscha, who rushed for 258 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 39 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Killian Biles also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Burney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 300 rushing yards. They are a perfect 4-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Burney's defense and their three sacks. Jessie Gemmill refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Burney got some further help from Alexander Vargas: he forced one fumble and made 18 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Burney's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 5-3. As for Plumas Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Burney will face off against Loyalton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Plumas Charter, they will square off against Hayfork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Timberjacks have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
