Basketball Recap: Brashier Middle College Charter Comes Up Short

Brashier Middle College Charter was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 68-49 fall against the Landrum Cardinals. The Bengal lost against the Cardinals in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 87-36 score last time.

Despite the loss, Brashier Middle College Charter still got an impressive performance from Ridge Bryson, who went 7 of 16 en route to 22 points. Caelin Fluker was another key player, putting up eight points.

Landrum was led to victory by Cooper Tidwell and Benett Edwards. Tidwell went 6 for 14 on his way to 17 points and four steals, while Edwards dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards. Edwards is becoming a predictor of Landrum's success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 11-3 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Reed Myers also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Brashier Middle College Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Landrum, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-6.

Brashier Middle College Charter has already played their next matchup, a 78-50 loss against Chesnee on the 24th. As for Landrum, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-60 win against Liberty on the 24th.
